CCTV System Upgrade

Mjengo Ltd. sought to upgrade their existing surveillance system to enhance coverage and improve footage quality across their premises. Their previous CCTV system was underperforming, particularly in low-light conditions, and lacked adequate coverage in critical areas, such as warehouses and external locations. This project aimed to design and implement a new CCTV solution that would effectively safeguard their property and improve operations.

Objectives:

1. Enhance Surveillance Coverage: Offer complete coverage of warehouses and external areas to prevent theft and vandalism.
2. Improve Footage Quality:  Ensure high-quality CCTV footage even in low-light environments.
3. Facilitate Product Counting: Address concerns related to product offloading accuracy in warehouses.
4. Provide Remote Monitoring: Enable the customer to access live footage remotely for improved oversight.

Project Steps:

Initial Assessment:

– Team from ITAFRICA conducted a site visit to assess the existing surveillance system and understand the specific needs and concerns of Mjengo Ltd.’s IT management.

Identifying Pain Points:

– Discussed limitations of the current system, including poor low-light performance and inadequate area coverage.
– Highlighted concerns regarding undetected product counts during offloading and vulnerability to theft.

System Design:

– Recommended a new CCTV system that included:
– 8MP CCTV IP Turret Cameras for high-resolution footage.
– Weatherproof IP Loudspeakers for audio surveillance.
– A 32-channel Network Video Recorder (NVR) for efficient video storage and management.
– A wall-mounted Data Cabinet for organized system components.

Installation:

– The IP cameras were strategically positioned throughout the premises, ensuring comprehensive coverage of all storage warehouses and critical external areas.

Testing & Validation

Conducted thorough testing of the new system to verify footage quality, coverage effectiveness, and remote access capabilities.

Training and Handover:

– Provided training to Mjengo Ltd. staff on how to operate and monitor the new CCTV system.

Results:

– The upgrade resulted in a professionally designed and installed CCTV system that effectively met Mjengo Ltd.’s needs.
– The enhancements allowed for full surveillance coverage, improved footage quality in various lighting conditions, and remote monitoring capabilities.
– Customer feedback demonstrated satisfaction with the new system, highlighting the effectiveness of the solutions provided.
